This notice is written in plain English to follow the spirit of UK GDPR and the ICO Children's Code. It is not legal advice and should be checked by a parent or other adult.
What OmniEx collects
- Your account - if you sign in with Google or email, Google's Firebase stores your email address and your account name (and Google profile picture if you have one). Student logins use a class code, username and a 6-number PIN; behind the scenes they use a made-up email address, so no real email is needed.
- Your progress - XP, levels, badges, challenges, settings and game progress. This is saved on your device and privately to your account so you don't lose it.
- Your leaderboard entry - your nickname (or student username), XP, level, badge counts, avatar and profile choices, a bio or status if you write one, and for students the class code and homework progress.
- Teachers - a teacher's classes, homework and quizzes.
- Multiplayer rooms - the room code, player names, scores and ready-made chat messages. Rooms are short-lived.
- Your age - when you first sign in, OmniEx asks for your birth month and year (never your full date of birth). It is used only to choose safe settings: under-13s can't use OmniEx Chat and get a simpler, extra-careful OmniEx AI. Only you and the site owner can see it, and only the owner can change it.
- OmniEx Chat - messages you post (with your nickname and account id) are seen by everyone signed in who is 13 or over. If you delete a message, or it is reported, it is hidden but kept for the owner to review in case it is needed to keep someone safe. The owner removes reviewed messages.
- Reports - if you 🚩 report a chat message, your account id is added to it. If you report an AI answer, that answer and your question are saved for up to 30 days so the owner can check it, then deleted automatically.
- Welcome questions - when you join you can answer some quick questions (like your favourite subject and what you're into) so OmniEx can pick things for you. You can skip any of them. We never ask for your name, age, school or where you live. Only the OmniEx owner can see your answers, next to your username. You can change them any time in Me → My answers.
Who can see it
- Everyone signed in can see the leaderboard entries above, and everyone aged 13+ can see OmniEx Chat messages. You can turn off Show me on the leaderboard in Settings.
- Your teacher can see the progress and homework of students in their class.
- The site owner can see leaderboard entries, chat messages, reports and the birth month/year you gave, and can remove anything that breaks the [[rules|Site rules]].
- Your private progress save can only be read by your own account.
What OmniEx does NOT collect
- No adverts, no analytics and no tracking of what you click.
- No location.
- The teacher noise meter uses the microphone only when a teacher switches it on. Sound is measured on that device and is never recorded or uploaded.
- We never sell your data.
OmniEx AI
- If you use OmniEx AI, the messages you type in that chat are sent through OmniEx's server to Google Gemini to write an answer. Your name, email and progress are not sent - only your messages, the chosen subject and mode.
- OmniEx does not save your AI chats; they disappear when you close the window - unless you press 🚩 Report this answer, which saves that one question and answer for up to 30 days for the owner to check. We count how many AI messages each account sends per day (a daily limit) and nothing else.
- Under-13s get extra-careful, simpler answers and may have a lower daily limit.
- Google may process the messages under its own API terms. Never type personal information (full name, address, school, phone number, passwords) into the AI.
Why we use it
Only to run OmniEx for you: signing you in, saving your progress, showing the leaderboard, letting teachers run classes and homework, and keeping young people safe (age-appropriate settings, chat moderation and reports).
How long we keep it
While you have an account. AI answer reports are deleted after 30 days. Chat messages are kept until the owner removes them. Guest accounts that haven't been used for a long time may be deleted. You can ask for your account and data to be deleted at any time.
Your rights
You can ask to see your data, fix it, or delete it, and you can object to how it's used. Ask: {{contact}}
If you're unhappy with the answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
